taken by trees

'taken by trees' is the solo project of Victoria Bergsman...i'm a total fan of her first album 'open field' which could be described as minimal pop, folk music...her voice is very charming and nicely detuned...the second album 'east of eden' is different but also excellent...it was recorded in Pakistan and you can hear lots of great percussions all through the album...there is also a very fine cover of animal collective's song 'my girls' which is much better than the original track...so, another masterpiece from 'taken by trees'...a little too short though...

    In fact, I was not so much convinced by the first album (open field) even if her voice was quite sandovalienne... but the arrangements and music were... pfff...disappointing...

    and I have not put any effort to get the new one... so I have been to her space... and it seems much better... I will definitely try to get it...

    in english now ? ok...the first album was great, simply great so i disagree...these days, i'm listening to 'heather woods broderick : from the ground' the sister of the now well known 'peter broderick' and there are some very nice, sad songs on this album...

    A mon tour d'être disagree --> j'aime bien sa relecture de My girls, mais je ne la trouve pas much better que l'originale (qui, soit dit en passant, est issue d'un album qui déboîte grave !)

    alors là je vais te décevoir peut-être mais je ne comprends pas l'engouement pour 'animal collective'...j'ai essayé plein de fois d'écouter...mais y a pas moyen, j'accroche pas et je vois pas ce qu'il y a d'hallucinant dans cette zik...en fait ça me saoule...

    non tu ne me déçois pas, tu as le droit de ne pas aimer et tu n'es pas le seul. Dans la mesure où je te sens plutôt prédisposé à écouter des choses intimistes (peut-être me trompe-je...), je conçois que ça puisse te saouler. Pour ma part, tout dépend de mes prédispositions et des circonstances : parfois il m'arrive d'être profondément ennuyé à l'écouté d'un excellent disque d'ambient ; au contraire, un brin de sauvagerie à la Gang Gang Dance ou Animal Collective peut rapidement m'agacer si je n'y suis pas préparé. Mais dans la plupart des cas, ça peut me procurer une certaine forme d'ivresse ; ce qui explique que ça puisse te saouler, tout est question de tolérance à l'alcool ;)

    moi quand j'ai envie de 'sauvagerie', j'écoute le dernier clark 'totems flare'...t'en penses quoi de ce disque ...quant à l'ambient, seuls quelques groupes sortent du lot selon moi : stars of the lid, tim hecker...

    Je n'ai pas écouté le dernier Clark, donc difficile en ces circonstances de penser ;) Je vais tâcher d'y remédier
